When We Met is the first book in the Rudi trilogy. It is part memoir, part reflection, and part imagination.
Told through three perspectives: a man who had always known to rely only on himself, a puppy born into uncertainty and chaos, and a woman lost in trauma. It is a book about finding a home in places you never thought to look.
The story revolves around five acts between lived memory and reconstructed experience. Set in northern Germany, Amber and Leeman tell their story as it happened. Rudi's chapters are pieced together from observation, shared history, and the way he senses the world. The final act steps briefly into fiction, inspired by Rudi's perspective of how life might seem.
Gentle and humorous, When We Met is a book about grief, healing, and reflection, and about the unexpected ways love can reshape us.
