Micala happened to send this poem to a friend, who then sent it to Micala's mother shortly after Micala died. She was having a particularly trying time with one of her four daughters. As a two-year-old, she was a bit strong-willed, and it was likely Micala penned this in the few moments of solitude she found after putting her to bed for the tenth time. She sent this to Jenn (see note below), who was one of the many young mothers in her vast circle of friendships. I am sure she was thinking that Jenn would share Micala's desire to see Christ in all, even in her little ones and even during trying times.
Dear Jenn,
I'm including this because, well, just because you have a two-year-old who sounds so much like my current two-year-old! I think the real inspiration for this came from my realization that some of the things that frustrate me the most about this stage may not be that sinful at all but may be simply a two-year old's perspective and inquisitiveness that I forget to relate to on a daily basis. How blessed we are by our little daredevil lovers of life! Though they definitely will make us gray and my two-year-old certainly demonstrates she is a natural born sinner like the rest of us at times!
