'Wyatt's Weird World'
For the first 18 months of Mark's life, in the very early 1960s, his family lived on the site of a derelict, gunpowder mill in a beautiful valley in the rural south-east of England. There had been gunpowder production there, and sporadic tragic loss of life, too, for at least 450 years, finally ending in the 1920s, and it was there on that site, whilst living in a converted magazine (an old concrete gunpowder production structure with extremely thick walls) during Mark's earliest infancy, that his father would have a traumatic nocturnal encounter with the ghost of one of the six victims of the 1901 gunpowder works explosion. It was his father's rare re-telling (he didn't like to talk about the incident) of that terrifying early hours event that would inspire Mark to delve deeply into all things weird at an early age. However, the more interest that Mark took in the paranormal, it seemed the more interest that the paranormal began to take in him!

All the stories in this book, after his father's story, are Mark's own honest accounts of several decades' worth of weird personal experiences at various places in England. His original aim had been to just try to remember every strange event in his life, jot them all down, and then hope that one of his descendants might discover his paranormal project in the future, and enjoy reading about his odd experiences. However, a friend read his notes about the stranger things that had happened in his life, and thoroughly enjoyed his humorous, engaging writing style; she had then later suggested that Mark should publish the project as a book, as she believed other people who were interested in the paranormal would enjoy reading about his experiences too. At first, Mark was reluctant to publish this personal paranormal project as a book, as he came from a background where such things were rarely, if ever, discussed, even his dad, despite having had that creepy experience, wasn't particularly interested in the paranormal. Most, if not all of Mark's family and friends, either had no interest in the paranormal, or were sceptical of any paranormal claims, or both. However, he did have a few more open-minded friends, including the one who read his notes, and she wasn't taking 'No' for an answer, she said something like, 'This isn't about your more sceptical, blinkered family and friends, Mark, we're well into the 21st century now, and science is slowly catching up with us. This book will be about YOU, and it could help you, and others, come out of the paranormal closet!'
With her enthusiastic encouragement, Mark finally decided to take the plunge into full personal paranormal disclosure, to announce, in public, and in print, to anyone who was interested, that he'd experienced many odd, unexplainable things in his life, and that this weird stuff was, as far as he was concerned, very real. Mark stepped out of his own self-imposed paranormal closet by publishing, 'Wyatt's Weird World'. In the years since that first 2016 edition, he has, he says, occasionally remembered other equally weird events that he has experienced over the years, and says he has often thought, 'I should really write that down before I forget it again.' He's getting better at remembering to record those weird events when he has those flashbacks, or someone else's story reminds him of something odd that happened to him, so, hopefully, there might be a 'Wyatt's Weird World 2' at some time in the future. Mark is in his early 60s now, sharing his time between the UK and the USA., and the paranormal shows no signs of losing interest in him, so perhaps there might be! I highly recommend this book, enjoy!
