Writing and Accumulation in Latin America: Letters of Blood and Fire studies narratives, writing, and writers from Latin America, from the fifteenth century to the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The book traces the logic of accumulation and the production of value, both economic and aesthetic, and examines the role of writers and the relationship between writing, the market, and power. Accumulation, as a system that organizes and gives value, has to be produced, and that it builds on a profusive excess: cumulation. The study argues that the transformation from cumulation into accumulation is becoming precarious. Revisiting and analyzing key moments and texts from Latin America, the volume argues the transformation from cumulation into accumulation is becoming precarious, and the distinction between accumulation and cumulation continues to blur, as the former, day by day, seems to fade away.
