High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 1998 Worthing Council election took place on 7 May 1998 to elect members of Worthing District Council in West Sussex, England. One third of the council was up for election and the Liberal Democrat party kept overall control of the council. For the election the Conservative party leader William Hague visited the town as it was seen as an important target for the party. The mayor of Worthing had also defected from the Liberal Democrats and joined the Conservative party in the lead up to the election.
