This volume contains a collection of Edmund Burke's most important writings. Edmund Burke (1729-1797) was an Anglo-Irish statesman, parliamentary orator, political thinker and philosopher. He is viewed by many as the philosophical founder of modern conservatism.
Burke served as a member of Parliament (MP) between 1766 and 1794 in the House of Commons of Great Britain with the Whig Party. Burke was a strong supporter of the American Revolution. He also campaigned for the impeachment of Warren Hastings, the Governor-General of British India, for alleged corruption. In his later life, Burke was a major opponent of the French Revolution, writing Reflections on the Revolution in France, in which he claimed that revolution was destroying the fabric of good society and traditional institutions of state and society.
