A Word To The Wise is a poetical farce by Thomas Underwood, presented as a satirical address to critical reviewers. This edition preserves the wit and literary context of the original 18th-century publication. The author includes an apology to Mr. Hugh Kelly for using a similar title, adding a layer of meta-commentary to the work.
This short dramatic piece offers a glimpse into the literary world of its time, showcasing the dynamic between writers and critics through the lens of comedic verse. It remains relevant for students and enthusiasts of dramatic literature, satire, and 18th-century literary history. Readers interested in the historical interplay between authors and critics will appreciate Underwood's pointed yet playful approach.
