High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Womersley railway station was a railway station in North Yorkshire, England. It was situated on the Askern Branch Line. It has now been closed and demolished but the railway line is still open and the only trains that run on this line are freight trains. The station house still exists, next to the level crossing. Trains mainly operate to the local power stations of Ferrybridge, Eggborough and Drax (The biggest power station in Europe). There are many trains, nearly always hauled by Class 66 locomotives of EWS, Freightliner and GB Railfreight. The only time the line sees passenger trains is when there are diversions on the East Coast Main Line. In February 2010 there will be a train service that runs past this line from Bradford Forster Square to London Kings Cross.
