Native New Yorker LindaAnn LoSchiavo, a Pushcart Prize, Rhysling Award and Dwarf Stars nominee, is a member of the Science Fiction Poetry Association and The Dramatists Guild of America. Sometimes compact, sometimes expansive, the 28 poems in Women Who Were Warned emanate from adolescence and other liminal spaces, considering girlhood and contemporary womanhood - and the ways both are fraught with the pleasures and limits of embodiment. A talented formalist and canny wordsmith of the unsettling image and moment, LindaAnn LoSchiavo's got a big imagination and an appetite for the complexity of our lives. Some of these female voices speak from a place marked by disappointment, distrust, disruption, displacement, disintegration, and loss. They speak on the verge of disappearance, out of desperation and terror.
― Kim Bridgford, editor-in-chief, Mezzo Cammin, and director of Poetry by the Sea: A Global Conference LindaAnn LoSchiavo writes personally, intimately, yet never without profound consideration of contemporary violence, which we must love in spite of and rage against.
