The Wiser Folly is a novel written by Leslie Moore and published in 1916. The story revolves around the character of Lady Diana Charteris, who is a young and beautiful woman living in London society. Despite her privileged position, Lady Diana is unhappy and feels trapped in her life. She is engaged to a wealthy but dull man named Sir Edmund, and is constantly being pursued by other suitors who are only interested in her wealth and status. One day, Lady Diana meets a charismatic and mysterious man named Max Wyndham. Max is everything that Sir Edmund is not - he is exciting, passionate, and unpredictable. Lady Diana is immediately drawn to him, and they begin a passionate affair. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Max is already married, and his wife is a jealous and vengeful woman. As Lady Diana struggles to navigate her feelings for Max and her obligations to Sir Edmund, she must also contend with the machinations of Max's wife and the judgment of society. The novel explores themes of love, passion, and societal expectations, and is a vivid portrait of London society in the early 20th century.Overall, The Wiser Folly is a compelling and engaging novel that offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of the British aristocracy during this time period. It is a must-read for fans of historical fiction and romantic dramas. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
