How does an 18-year-old idealist end up believing that killing is revolutionary?

This is not another book of the official history. This is a raw testimony from inside the PCP - Shining Path.

Written in the first person to bring the reader closer to the unspeakable events that took place in Peru during those years, the author gathers direct stories from friends and acquaintances who were recruited into that organization, brainwashed and turned into followers of Abimael Guzmán's ideology.

This is not an apology for terrorism. Shining Path was the cruelest and most bloodthirsty organization in Latin America. These pages are a historical document so that such savage and cruel brutality may never be repeated.

From the very beginning, the author received insults and threats for daring to tell the whole truth, but that did not stop the light of the facts from being hidden out of fear. What really happened must be told and remain as an absolute testimony of the feelings of young idealists, led to a foolish sacrifice for an absurd ideal.

Out of respect for their privacy, names have been changed to protect their anonymity.
