Who Shall Be Greatest? A Tale is a novel written by Mary Botham Howitt and published in 1841. The story follows the lives of two brothers, Walter and Arthur, who grow up with different values and aspirations. Walter is ambitious and desires to become the greatest man in his community, while Arthur is content with a simple life and values kindness and humility above all else. As they grow older, their differences become more apparent and their relationship becomes strained. Walter's pursuit of greatness leads him to make questionable decisions and prioritize his own success over the well-being of others. Meanwhile, Arthur's kindness and selflessness earn him the respect and admiration of those around him. The novel explores themes of ambition, morality, and the true meaning of greatness.
