The White Slave Trade is a book that documents the proceedings of the International Congress on the White Slave Trade that took place in 1899. The Congress was organized by the National Vigilance Association, a British organization that aimed to combat the trafficking of women and children for the purpose of prostitution. The book contains papers presented by various experts, including law enforcement officials, social workers, and medical professionals, who discussed the causes and effects of the white slave trade and suggested ways to prevent it. The topics covered in the book include the role of the police in combating the trade, the impact of poverty and unemployment on women's vulnerability to trafficking, and the need for international cooperation to address the problem. The book provides a detailed and comprehensive account of the Congress and the issues it addressed, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of efforts to combat human trafficking. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
