The Whispering Caverns and Attack of the Aquapuffies
General Kwan has lost his country-but he has no intention of giving up his dream of ruling the world.
After escaping into the remote mountains of northern Mongolia, Kwan and his four loyal advisers disappear into a hidden network of caverns. Deep underground, he develops a secret weapon based on a strange scientific phenomenon involving lithium carbonate. Soon, mysterious events begin occurring thousands of miles away, and scientists struggle to understand what-or who-is causing them.
At the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, scientist Aaron and his young interns, Pete, Randy, and Hank, begin piecing together the clues. Their search takes them from satellite data and thousands of experiments to a desperate international effort to locate General Kwan before his plan succeeds. But finding a man hidden beneath some of the most isolated mountains on Earth will require more than computers and technology. It will require curiosity, persistence, teamwork-and a willingness to notice the clues everyone else has overlooked.
And General Kwan isn't finished.
In Attack of the Aquapuffies, he returns with an even stranger scheme: seemingly harmless inflatable creatures called Aquapuffies. Colorful, amusing, and irresistible, they begin appearing in waters around the world. But there is something very wrong with these unusual creatures, and once again a puzzle that seems ridiculous at first becomes a very real threat.
From the whispering caverns of Mongolia to the waters of San Francisco Bay, The Whispering Caverns and Attack of the Aquapuffies combines mystery, humor, science, suspense, and adventure in two connected stories about young people discovering that the best way to defeat a brilliant villain isn't to be smarter than everyone else-it's to think carefully and work together.
