There were days when life was not just hard. It was survival. I slept in a small laundry room without a mattress. There were days when I had no money to eat. Before that, I ate little cans of food expired for months because that was what I had.
This is a true story about survival, faith, loss, resilience, and the courage to begin again after losing almost everything.
After a devastating accident near Times Square in New York and two major spinal surgeries, the pain in Cesar's spine became part of his daily life. Then came a two stroke. And while he was still writing this book, a second one. He began writing this book while lying down in bed. He is still writing it. Because after the a two stroke, some memories disappeared. Others returned days, weeks, and months later. Every recovered memory became another page.
That was the bottom of the pit.
I studied a lot. I worked hard. I built businesses. I had dreams. I had plans. I believed I was moving forward. Then everything broke. Money broke. Health broke. The body broke. Life broke.

Years later, he used a Sony Mavica camera, floppy disks, and dial-up internet to document an entire community. Before Facebook, before YouTube, before Instagram, he was already preserving stories, faces, events, memories, and ordinary lives that still exist today.
