WHEN THE DEAD OFFER ADVICE
Five Spooky Stories of Love, Ghosts, and Other Unfinished Business
By Elizabeth Butler
The dead have opinions about love. Unfortunately, their advice is rarely helpful.
Step into five spooky, funny, romantic stories where ghosts, witches, haunted houses, supernatural libraries, séances, magical mishaps, and unfinished business collide with unexpected romance.
The Book That Writes Back
A romance novelist on a secluded writing retreat discovers that an invisible ghostly presence is helping write her manuscript. The mysterious co-author has a wicked sense of humor, a tragic past, and a disturbing habit of turning fictional plot twists into real-life dangers. As the story begins writing itself, she finds herself falling for the voice on the other side of the page.
Pumpkin Spice and Other Curses
A barista with hidden magical abilities accidentally curses her town's fall festival with the wrong herb. Soon, romantic chaos spreads through the streets, complete with enchanted objects, disastrous first dates, time loops, and a persistent poltergeist determined to match her with a grumpy local historian. To break the curse, they must work together before the festival becomes a supernatural disaster.
Library of the Lost Hours
After midnight, a quiet library becomes something far stranger: a supernatural repository for moments people have lost. A night librarian discovers the exact moment a woman almost confessed her love to her best friend fifteen years ago. When that man unexpectedly returns, lost moments begin hunting library patrons, forcing them to confront both a dangerous supernatural threat and the feelings they never acted on.
The House That Wouldn't Sell
A real-estate agent takes on the haunted mansion no buyer has survived emotionally, let alone financially. Its resident ghost is a sharp-tongued former architect who refuses to let anyone sell the property until his unfinished renovation is complete. As they clash over blueprints, renovations, and supernatural secrets, an unexpected romance begins changing both the house and the people inside it.
The Last Séance of the Season
A professional skeptic and a genuine medium are brought together at an extravagant Halloween party when a séance accidentally opens a supernatural doorway. Trapped between skeptical disbelief and undeniable ghosts, the unlikely pair must work together while spirits offer terrible romantic advice and oblivious party guests continue enjoying themselves. Closing the door may require convincing one very particular ghost that love is more interesting than revenge.
