When Peace Returned to Our Place is the sequel to When the War Came to Our Place, which concluded as the nation celebrated Victory in Europe Day in May 1945, with the main characters dancing the night away at Whickham Miners Hall.
Bill and Maggie Atkinson are longing for a peaceful life after six long years of war. Their younger daughter, Sally, is determined to divorce her estranged husband, Pete, and looks forward to beginning a new career as a nurse.
