What's Mine

I didn't mean to want her.

She was my brother's wife.
Off limits. Untouchable.
And stuck in a life that was slowly crushing her.

I saw it before anyone else did.
The way she made herself smaller.
The way he made her feel like she had to.

So I stepped in.

Not to take her.

But somewhere between stolen glances and quiet moments...
between sweat, bruises, and the way she started coming back to life-

I stopped being the better man.

Now she's looking at me like I'm the only one who sees her.

And he's starting to notice.

He's changing.
Trying.
Becoming the man he should've been all along.

But it's too late.
