This is a mini guide intended for beginners. If you are an expert in chickens and chicken coops, this book is probably not for you. But if you are starting out, it will help you move forward with your urban mini chicken coop project. I will repeat some important points throughout this book because I believe some aspects deserve to be highlighted multiple times. I will be direct: having a chicken coop requires a lot of work, love, and especially passion for your little chickens. You will need to get up early and stay up late, as they will need your help. They cannot take care of the maintenance on their own. If, after reading these few lines, you still wish for a nice little coop at home, I strongly encourage you. Having fresh eggs every day is a reward, but you will also discover new experiences with your chickens. There will be beautiful moments and, unfortunately, more difficult times, such as the loss of our dear little chickens, whether they fall victim to predators or silly accidents. I will mainly talk to you about my experience of having a chicken coop here in Quebec, where temperatures can drop to -30 C (-22 F).
