THE LIBRARY The Library has shown the same consistent increase that it has maintained during the past several years and although one year may see the emphasis placed on some special line rather than on others, yet it evens up very satisfactorily as the years go on. We have a very small, but extremely loyal and interested force to carry on the work. Just as the last report was being finished the Director's secretary, Mrs. Sarah Louise Webb, was suddenly called by death. Her last thoughts were of the Annual Report, which she was engaged in copying at the time she was taken ill. For some seven years she threw her whole heart into the work of the Society. She had a rare spirit and lovely disposition. No matter how trying or discouraging the work.might be, she always found a bright side to it. With a deep sympathetic feeling she became interested in the problems of all, whether they were those of the barefooted urchin that came in to ask the thousand and one questions that only a child can ask, or of the more serious seeker with his perplexing ones. Her welcome was felt by all. There ought to be some way that a life so unselfishly lived as Mrs. Webb lived hers could be portrayed. It was a choice privilege to have had one so thoughtful, so patient, so cheerful and that which counts for so much in one's business associates, an untiring interest in all the various activities the Society is engaged in. She is missed, not only by the staff, but by all who came to the library during the time of her connection with the Society. Last July our cataloger, Miss Judson, while on her vacation was taken ill and compelled to give up her connection with the Society.
