The West Indies In 1837 is a journal written by Joseph Sturge about his visit to six different islands in the Caribbean: Antigua, Montserrat, Dominica, St. Lucia, Barbados, and Jamaica. The book provides a detailed account of Sturge's observations and experiences during his travels, including descriptions of the people, culture, and economy of each island. Sturge also provides insights into the social and political conditions of the time, particularly with regard to the issue of slavery, which was still prevalent in the region. The book is an important historical document that sheds light on the realities of life in the West Indies during the mid-19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
