The Way We're Going is a contemporary romance about unexpected connections, ambition, friendship, and the people who change us when we least expect it.
When Jen arrives in Las Vegas with a touring performance group, she expects bright lights, rehearsals, packed shows, and a chance to prove that she belongs onstage. Instead, she discovers a city very different from the fantasy presented to tourists-a world of performers, promoters, gamblers, pool players, friendships, secrets, and people working behind the scenes to keep the illusion alive.
Then she meets Michael.
Quiet, observant, and difficult to read, Michael seems completely at home in the chaos of Vegas. What begins with exchanged glances and lessons around a pool table gradually becomes something neither of them planned. As Michael teaches Jen to slow down, trust herself, and stop deciding the ending before she gets there, Jen begins to see both him and herself differently.
But their romance is only one part of a week that changes everything. Jen is drawn into the lives of the people around her: Amy struggles with a destructive relationship, Kirsty faces a crisis that threatens her future, Lily carries a painful history beneath her confidence, and the pressures surrounding the show reveal sides of everyone that are usually hidden. When helping Kirsty leads Jen into a high-stakes pool tournament, she discovers abilities and confidence she never knew she possessed.
As the performances, friendships, conflicts, and late Vegas nights collide, Jen and Michael grow closer. Yet from the beginning, their time together has an expiration date. Jen came to Vegas with a touring show. Eventually, the final performance will end, the bags will be packed, and both of them will have to return to lives that existed before they met.
When that moment finally arrives, neither is willing to make promises they don't know how to keep. They can only acknowledge that what happened between them mattered-and that sometimes a relationship doesn't have to last forever to permanently change the direction of a life.
By the time Jen leaves Las Vegas, she isn't the same woman who arrived. She has learned that confidence is earned, that other people's problems cannot always be hers to solve, and that an uncertain future doesn't have to be feared or decided in advance. Michael may or may not be part of what comes next, but what they shared remains real regardless of the ending.
Set against the casinos, stages, pool halls, nightclubs, and neon-lit streets of Las Vegas, The Way We're Going is a story about falling in love while learning to move forward-without needing to know exactly where the road will lead.
