You might know that God loves you, but when intense suffering takes hold, the wilderness can feel way more real and overpowering. Abby Williams felt trapped and forgotten. Newly disabled and experiencing severe concussion symptoms long after her brain should've healed. With so many barriers to the life she longed for, Abby's faith was deeply challenged by two burning questions. Why is the God who heals not healing her, and would she still love him if he never did?
Years go on, with little improvement, and no change that would make her situation easier to bear. Abby keeps wrestling with the path that God has her on; one that seems to be going nowhere, fast. Her doctors keep giving unhelpful advice, only agreeing that whatever has happened is permanent.
It would take a miracle to be healed, and that's just what she gets, in God's timing. Only when it's over can Abby see that the sweet promise in Isaiah 43 has proven true. Her savior makes a way in the wilderness; and he brings water to our parched desert. God is our Way Maker, and it is marvelous!
