In 1947, a shepherd boy threw a stone into a cave above the Dead Sea and heard the sound of pottery breaking.
What he found inside had been sealed for two thousand years.
Among the manuscripts recovered from Qumran - preserved alongside Isaiah, the Psalms, and the books we call scripture - was a document the church had spent fifteen centuries trying to forget.
