Walter Mell and the Last Frown of Snickerdoodle Dell
Book One: The Town of Magnificent Nonsense

Welcome to Snickerdoodle Dell, where roads have minds of their own, chimneys whistle in different keys, umbrellas grow flowers, and a perfectly ordinary day might include dancing mice, singing rubber chickens, or a fountain bubbling with warm cocoa.

And whenever something rattles, bounces, bursts, floats, sings, or lands somewhere it probably should not, there is a good chance Walter Mell had something to do with it.

Walter is Snickerdoodle Dell's resident inventor, performer, and enthusiast of all things gloriously unnecessary. With more than a hundred ridiculous wigs, a barn full of impossible machines, and an endless supply of oddball ideas, he has spent years keeping the town laughing and wondering what he will do next. To Walter, a machine does not always need a sensible purpose. An idea does not have to behave. And a little nonsense can make the world far more interesting.

Then the queen arrives.

She wears a spotless crown, tightly laced sensible shoes, and an expression that suggests she has never trusted anything crooked in her life. Armed with The Royal Guide to Properly Ordered Towns, she begins inspecting Snickerdoodle Dell and finds something wrong almost everywhere she looks.

The roads curve. The clocks disagree. The hats misbehave. The food has ambitions.

And Walter Mell may be the most unacceptable thing of all.

As the queen's rules begin closing in around the town, Walter becomes determined to prove that imagination, unpredictability, and even ridiculousness have a place in the world. But defending Snickerdoodle Dell may require him to understand something he has never stopped long enough to consider.

Perhaps there is more to laughter than simply making people laugh.

Walter Mell and the Last Frown of Snickerdoodle Dell, Book One: The Town of Magnificent Nonsense begins a whimsical adventure about creativity, difference, belonging, and what can happen when one person's idea of proper threatens everything that makes a place extraordinary.
