Vegetable farming is currently one of the priority sectors in Benin. In addition to its importance in terms of food security and nutrition, vegetable farming is a significant source of income for many households in urban and peri-urban areas. However, this activity is developing in a context marked by numerous constraints, including a severe shortage of land linked to increasing urbanization. This situation requires producers-as in any economic activity that aims to be profitable-to make decisions that optimize the management of resources, in this case, available land area. This study therefore rightly focuses on the management of vegetable farms in southern Benin. It offers an analysis of vegetable farmers' decisions regarding the selection and scaling of crops on their farms. It provides valuable information that can inform and better guide agricultural policy decisions aimed at promoting vegetable production in Benin.
