Through rigorous paleographic analysis, linguistic analysis, and cross-cultural medical anthropology, Scott demonstrates that the manuscript is a 15th-century Sowa Rigpa astro-botanical compendium, composed in encoded Latin by the Swiss-German monk Clemens Specker following his travels through the Himalayas, Persia, Indonesia, and East Africa.
The work shows the Voynich Manuscript to be a complete system of curative medicine, uniting Tibetan Sowa Rigpa, Ayurveda, Persian and Abyssinian Traditional Medicine, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, syncretized with Christian monastic healing traditions within a single Wheel of Cures.
