Growing up in an area of the world locked in perpetual conflict, high school student Layla Bashir is no stranger to violence. When her father, an esteemed physicist, explains that they are moving to America Layla is ecstatic! Although political tensions and the new regime's stance on women's education were the reasons Dr. Bashir gave his daughter, Layla suspected the true purpose was linked to his Top Secret research on some new form of matter. Layla's expectations of visiting Hollywood and New York are dashed when her father starts his new job in a small town in the middle of the New Mexican desert. Layla's first day of high school in America was rather dull compared to her television-derived expectations, but when she returns home to find her father under assault, Layla's life becomes inextricably linked to violence once again. Her only hope to set things right will come from an Army Veteran living in the suburbs of Seattle... When the entire Seattle Metro Area loses cell phone service, Pete Macintosh suspects it's time to move his family out of the area for a while. On a hunch, he sends his wife Lindsay along with their two sons down south to Gresham, Oregon to stay until things settle down. Hours after his wife arrives safely in Oregon, however, Pete is running for his life from the first wave of an invasion that is certainly the start of World War 3... Will Pete and Layla be enough to stop the impending catastrophe? Find out in the Void Codex!
