This is a novel about one of the thousands of men who shivered and suffered in the trenches during World War 1. But it is a novel with a difference. John Robert Lowerson, from Seaham in County Durham, did exist, and in the mid 1980's a young girl is convinced she saw his ghost ... more than once. War records tell us he fought at many locations in war-torn France and he died at the Battle Of The Somme on Saturday 1st of July 1916. Not all the characters in this book are fictional, and some of the events actually happened. I want to take the reader back to the horrors of the war that was to end all wars. In retrospect, it didn't end anything ... but maybe it should have. This is an account of one man's struggle to survive ... in the present and the past.
