Visitation Articles and Injunctions V1 (1910) is a book written by W. H. Frere that provides a comprehensive analysis of the visitation articles and injunctions issued by the Church of England in the 16th and 17th centuries. The book is divided into two parts, with the first part focusing on the visitation articles and the second part on the injunctions. The visitation articles were a set of questions that were used by bishops to assess the state of the church in their diocese. These questions covered a wide range of topics, including the conduct of the clergy, the administration of the sacraments, and the behavior of the laity. Frere provides a detailed analysis of these questions and the responses that they elicited, offering insights into the religious and social conditions of the time. The second part of the book focuses on the injunctions that were issued by the Church of England. These injunctions were directives that were issued by the monarch or the church authorities to ensure that the clergy and laity adhered to the teachings of the Church of England. Frere examines these injunctions in detail, providing historical context and highlighting their significance in the development of the Church of England.Overall, Visitation Articles and Injunctions V1 (1910) is a valuable resource for scholars and students of Church of England history, providing a comprehensive analysis of the visitation articles and injunctions that shaped the church during a crucial period of its development. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
