Immense, shaggy, and gentle-hearted, the Irish Wolfhound is the tallest of dogs, an ancient coursing giant bred to bring down the wolf. This treasured anthology gathers vintage writing and rare photographs celebrating the Irish Wolfhound.
Part of the Vintage Dog Books library, The Vintage Dog Scrapbook - The Irish Wolfhound collects essays, breed notes, poems, and period photographs drawn from classic interwar dog books such as About Our Dogs (1931) by A. Croxton Smith, Dogs of the World (1931) by Arthur Craven, and Hutchinson's Dog Encyclopaedia (1935). Together they capture the breed as it was known a century ago, in the words and images of the fanciers who prized it most.
This edition features:
- A collection of rare interwar photographs, many seldom seen since first publication
- Essays and breed notes gathered from the classic dog writers of the 1930s
- A vivid portrait of the Irish Wolfhound as it stood a hundred years ago
