This book is a scholarly, historical monograph that focuses on President Gerald R. Ford's decision faced in on whether or not to launch a bombing campaign into the Vietnam War. American political landscape of the mid-1970s, the situation of the Vietnam War in the post-1968 Tet Offensive period, and the Cold War politics of the 1970s are analyzed to understand why President Ford chose not to launch a bombing campaign. Instead, President Ford chose to evacuate as many people as possible in April 1975 because of the political realities his presidency faced and to garner support for his top priorities.
