Veteran Isolation is not a textbook. It's not written by a psychologist or academic. It's written by someone who lived it. I'm Shawn Hibbard, a combat veteran who faced the harsh truth of what it feels like to be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. In this book, I speak directly to veterans who are feeling misunderstood, displaced, or emotionally shut down-and to the families, friends, and communities who want to help but don't know how.
Veteran isolation is more than just physical separation. It's emotional distance. It's walking through a crowd and feeling like no one sees you. It's trying to explain what you're feeling and watching others' eyes glaze over. It's the frustration of not being able to just move on, no matter how much time has passed.
