Verdict of the Gods is a story woven around a young boy named Obinna who grew up in a typical African society obsessed with norms and traditions that must be kept. He was confronted with making a clear-cut choice between African culture and Western civilization. To his dismay, the affuluence associated with Western civilization has weakened the potency of the traditional culture in the minds of the elders and titled men who had secretly sent out their sons and daughters to learn the white man's way instead of training them to protect and promote the traditional culture after them. He believed they had secretly falling in love with Western culture and their civilization and want their children to follow suit. His refusal has set him out as someone out of tune with the present reality. To the confusion and amazement of many, the young boy was predestinated to be great despite his refusal to embrace Western culture. But be it as it may, God Almighty used the gods of his foefathers and his people uncouth attitude towards him as tools to pummel him into right shape and path. Eventually his people discovered from his speedy rise in the ladder of success that the destiny of his entire village and town, their emancipation, developments, accomplishments and successes lie in his hands. Among his contemporaries and beyond no one was able to match his effort and stride in changing the fortune of his people and their immediate environments like him. He had a rough and bad beginning that no one expected him to amount to something.
