The Veil of Isis or Mysteries of the Druids is a book written by W. Winwood Reade that explores the ancient religion and practices of the Druids, a group of pre-Christian priests and intellectuals who lived in the British Isles and Gaul. The book delves into the history of the Druids, their beliefs and rituals, and their influence on the societies they served. Reade draws on a variety of sources, including ancient texts, archaeological evidence, and his own observations of the remnants of Druidic culture that still existed in his time. He discusses the role of the Druids in society, their beliefs about the afterlife, and their knowledge of astronomy, medicine, and other sciences. The book also explores the influence of the Druids on other cultures, including the Romans, who were fascinated by their knowledge and practices. Reade examines the similarities between Druidic beliefs and those of other ancient religions, such as Egyptian and Greek mythology. Overall, The Veil of Isis or Mysteries of the Druids is a comprehensive and fascinating look at one of the most enigmatic and influential groups in ancient history. It provides a detailed account of their beliefs, practices, and legacy, and sheds light on their enduring impact on Western culture.1924.
