The Van Gogh Murders is a modern mystery and political satire with an unusual villain - white male privilege. James Hitchcock, a dog photographer and a detective with an expired license, sees an original Van Gogh hanging on the wall of a murdered destitute man. When the painting disappears, no one believes he saw it. After consulting a local Santa Barbara artist named RK, whom everybody else thinks is dead, Hitchcock begins to believe he is seeing, and chasing, ghosts.
