The Vailima Letters is a collection of personal correspondence between the renowned Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson and his close friend and literary advisor, Sidney Colvin. The letters were written during Stevenson's final years, when he lived on the island of Samoa with his wife and stepchildren. The collection includes over 100 letters, covering a wide range of topics such as Stevenson's writing process, his health struggles, his love for his family and friends, and his observations of Samoan culture. The letters offer a unique insight into Stevenson's personal life and his creative process, and provide a fascinating glimpse into the life of a literary giant at the end of his career.1895. The letters of Stevenson, best remembered for Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, written between November 1890 and October 1894, to his friend Sidney Colvin, a professor at Cambridge and reputable critic for the Fortnightly Review. Through his encouragement and guidance, Colvin had early on helped the frail young writer to find his writing style. These letters were written from his house at Vailima, Samoa during the last four years of his life; he was at the height of his creative powers.
