The reflective poems in this book try to capture the personal and universal quest to understand the human condition, which includes aging, time, purpose and relationships. That is, to reveal some of the unspoken thoughts and contemplative musings running in the background of our lives. As unique as our fingerprints we see and express the world with different refinements and word selections. Mark blends an inquisitive tone of plain speaking, infused with psychology and philosophical questions in an attempt to try and figure out this amazing gift of life. Through his poetry, he illustrates the common lifelong struggle for equanimity and the balance between living in the mind and living in the world by trying to place the awe and the mundane of this existence side by side in its proper perspective. My work is a blend of prose and poetry revealing the inner landscape of an individual without ignoring a much larger universality that we all experience.
