In this author's opinion, this book is not for the weak hearted but to help fellow survivors and victims of childhood abuse. This book is written for the person who has been abused. The content deals with many details of abuse that I've experienced. What happened was a terrible experience, but I'm not saying to put it all behind you and get on with your life. I'm trying to state that what happened to me was a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder secondary to childhood abuse, and that I was a normal kid doing the best I could do to survive a terrible, often ongoing, situation. When life events seem to be beyond control, take control where you can. This is an extremely important concept. The abused child is a victim, and victims have no control. In learning how not to be a victim, you need to learn to take control where you can. You can take control by understanding this book, first intellectually and then emotionally.
