The book of Romans is a Spirit-inspired masterpiece written by the Apostle Paul to the believers in Rome, offering the most systematic and theologically rich presentation of the gospel found in the New Testament. It unfolds God's plan of salvation, beginning with humanity's universal guilt before a holy God, and then revealing the righteousness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Chapters 9-11 explore the mystery of Israel's rejection and God's sovereign purpose to include the Gentiles in salvation history, without abandoning His covenant promises to Israel. Paul affirms that salvation is by grace and that God preserves a faithful remnant according to His mercy.
Romans 12-16 transitions into practical exhortations for Christian living. Paul calls believers to present their bodies as living sacrifices, to walk in love, humility, and unity within the body of Christ, and to submit to governing authorities. The epistle concludes with greetings, personal commendations, and a doxology glorifying God for His wise and eternal plan.
Throughout Romans, Paul speaks not only to theological minds but to the hearts of those longing to live by the Spirit and in the grace of Christ. The book bridges Jewish and Gentile believers, law and grace, doctrine and duty, all under the banner of God's mercy.
Drawing from both early Church Fathers and Reformation thinkers, Romans has been pivotal in shaping Christian doctrine. Augustine found in it the foundation of divine grace; Luther, the spark of reformation through justification by faith; and Calvin, the depth of God's sovereign purpose. While deeply appreciative of such theological insights, this exposition of Romans has been guided first and foremost by listening to the Holy Spirit, who leads the church into all truth.
