Their conversations became more serious and intimate to where William asked Cynthia to come to Pennsylvania and marry him, to which she agreed.But their matrimonial bliss would be changed forever when a devastating car accident led to both enduring painful injuries and Cynthia's memory and personality begin to decline. The situation was further complicated when Cynthia's sister took Cynthia away from William to live in another state, causing the confusion to worsen Cynthia's already evaporating memory.Yet through it all, William stayed faithful to God and to Cynthia, which is what drew him to write of their love story.
