This work is distinct in its practical purpose: to help congregations and individuals sing the actual words of the Psalms. It is one thing to recognize that Scripture commands God's people to sing Psalms; it is another to develop a practical way for a congregation to obey that command.

Drawing upon forty-three years of pastoral ministry, Pastor Frank Bissol approaches this project with a pastor's question: How can I help my church sing the Psalms? Simple, recurring musical patterns are shared to make the words as easy, memorable, and predictable to sing as possible. The goal is not merely to produce beautiful arrangements, but to provide settings that ordinary congregations can learn and sing together without extensive musical training.

Building upon the discoveries of Book I, this volume develops harmonic flows-musical patterns that preserve the inspired words while giving each Psalm unity, beauty, and congregational direction.

Special attention is also given to Selah and to significant musical instructions found in the Psalm superscriptions. Terms such as Shoshannim and Altaschith can remain largely hidden in meaning if they are considered only as definitions. When their meaning is applied to the actual discipline of setting the sacred text to music, their distinct musical purpose begins to emerge.

Within these pages are devotional studies, full musical settings, condensed settings, and an extended study of Selah. This book is an attempt to move beyond simply saying, Sing Psalms, and to provide a practical way to put that biblical command into the life and worship of the church.
