University of Washington Poems Second Series is a compelling anthology of student verse curated during a vibrant period of academic and literary growth in the Pacific Northwest. Edited by Glenn Hughes, this collection showcases the creative output of young writers at the University of Washington in the mid-1920s. The poems within reflect a wide array of themes, from the natural beauty of the Washington landscape to introspective explorations of youth, identity, and the modern world.
This volume serves as an important historical snapshot of regional American literature, capturing the voices of a generation coming of age during the early 20th century. The contributors explore various poetic forms and styles, demonstrating the influence of contemporary literary movements while maintaining a distinct collegiate perspective. As the second installment in the university's poetry series, this work highlights the institution's legacy of fostering literary talent and providing a platform for emerging voices.
Whether for scholars of regional literature or lovers of vintage poetry, University of Washington Poems Second Series offers a lyrical and evocative glimpse into the creative spirit of the Pacific Northwest's academic community.
