From Donna J.A. Olson, the award-winning author of They Walk Among Us and The Queen Of Thorns, comes her special edition collection of dark poetry based on fairytale retellings. Dark and twisted with a hint of truth. Divided into eighteen poems, this book is filled with twisted and dark tales that are more relatable than you might think. With beautiful semi-transparent chapter art to tie all of the dark beauty of the book together. We wish to live so beautiful and true,
Like that of a fairytale creature.
Without knowing what they go through,
To be such an idolized feature. Most stories are not like these tales,
That we wish to change lives with.
They would too cry and wail,
If they were not but a myth. Here are the tales,
Of those who aren't real,
With all the details,
And hardships that they never had to feel. If they were in our world,
And lived lives just like ours.
Their epic stories unfurled,
And laid clear without the shining stars. See what happens when they are just people,
Fighting to live in a harsh land.
Taking away their happy freedom,
And forcing them to live with their given hand.
