We see them every day, even if we don't acknowledge them. They serve to keep us and our property safe from harm, without expecting even a single nod of appreciation. They've been around for centuries and have evolved with the times, but so little is documented about their history. These literal pillars of traffic safety and control are what we call bollards, and this is the first comprehensive look at these devices. In this complete guide to the underdogs of the traffic safety industry, readers will learn about these devices' bare beginnings, their incredible evolution, the various vibrant models installed across the globe, their many applications, and what all they mean on a philosophical level with regard to humankind. There isn't a more exhaustive study and appreciation of these inanimate creatures anywhere else, sadly.
