My last day as an elected public official. I served as a County Commissioner for over 14 years in Franklin County, Ohio. I was thinking of the work I did for county residents. I loved helping our residents get what they needed, and it was a King Solomon decision to make. I was balancing family caregiving issues. Finally, with the pandemic, I lost the balance. Family took priority over work.
The issues I address in this book were ones I struggled to address for many years. I hope you gain understanding of how an outsider, someone who has never fi t into the world around. them, can make a difference in someone's life or in a community or workplace.
This is my story.
Some people lead with wisdom. Others with heart. Marilyn Brown does both-with purpose, courage, and a deep love for people and community.
Marilyn has spent a lifetime championing equity, health, and dignity-especially for those too often left out of the conversation.
From her decades of public service to her tireless advocacy behind the scenes, she has helped shape a stronger, more just and compassionate central Ohio.
The ripple effect of her work continues to amplify what's possible-and she's full steam ahead, advancing critical reforms and showing up for the people who need it most. I'm grateful for her mentorship and friendship.
