What is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence, often referred to as AI, is a broad field in computer science that focuses on creating machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks can range from understanding natural language to recognizing patterns in data, making decisions, and even learning from experience.
AI is divided into two main categories: narrow AI and general AI. Narrow AI, also known as weak AI, is designed to perform specific tasks, such as speech recognition or image classification. General AI, on the other hand, aims to create machines with human-like intelligence that can perform any intellectual task that a human can.
Within the field of AI, there are various subfields, including Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, and Cognitive Computing. Machine Learning is a subset of AI that focuses on developing algorithms that can learn from and make predictions based on data. Deep Learning is a type of Machine Learning that uses neural networks to simulate the way the human brain works, allowing machines to learn complex patterns in data.
Natural Language Processing (NLP) involves teaching machines to understand, interpret, and generate human language. Computer Vision focuses on enabling machines to interpret and understand visual information from the world around them. Robotics combines AI with engineering to create robots capable of performing tasks autonomously.
