Rudi narrates this tale and it's anything but fluffy. He's trying so hard to give some sort of life to his baby sister but, his circumstances are overwhelming. His mother is a drug addict so deep in the throes of addiction she's neglected everything, including herself. She has allowed people to abuse Rudi and her and goes so far as to try to pimp him out in order to score another hit. Rudi does what it takes to survive, and while he may be damaged, he's not broken. He has a lot of fight in him and refuses to give up. Enter Jay, who Rudi finds beaten badly in an unlit area of a park, for being gay. As a thank you, Jay's family invites him to supper and an attraction is sparked but, the romance isn't hot and heavy, in fact it almost takes a back seat to the chaos that is Rudi's life. Fear not, their moments, the whole story and especially the steamy ending, are well worth the wait.
