The climax arrives when Cillian gives Rhys a single sedative to calm him before their escape. The next morning, the police arrive-not to arrest Anya, but to find both parents in critical condition from a massive overdose. The hero son, Rhys, is weeping, pointing the finger directly at Cillian.
Cillian thought his empathy was his strength. Rhys knew it was his weakness. The only remaining witness to the true killer is Anya, trapped in a permanent coma, while the perfect son inherits his kingdom.
