Trumpus Nero es un ensayo que paraleliza al emperador Nerón con Donald Trump como gobernantes del espectáculo figuras que emergen cuando civilizaciones exhaustas confunden la actuación con la gobernanza.
Roma no cayó por Nerón, sino porque ya era una civilización de espectadores. Del mismo modo, Trump no corrompió una democracia sana: surgió de décadas de desconfianza institucional, desigualdad, agotamiento cÃvico y medios algorÃtmicos que premian la intensidad emocional sobre la sustancia.
Ambos lÃderes comparten una psicologÃa narcisista: criados en entornos que les enseñaron que las consecuencias no se aplican a los excepcionales. Trump fue rescatado financieramente por su padre (herencia de 413 millones de dólares, quiebras, vÃnculos con Deutsche Bank y capital ruso). Nerón fue moldeado por su madre Agripina y el sistema imperial que lo aisló de toda responsabilidad.
La polÃtica del espectáculo convierte la crisis en recurso. Nerón usó el Gran Incendio para construir la Domus Aurea; Trump gestionó la pandemia como un evento performativo. La humillación pública es una herramienta de control: Nerón cantando mientras Roma ardÃa, Trump el 6 de enero de 2021.
GeopolÃticamente, el libro analiza la erosión de la OTAN, la vulnerabilidad europea, la guerra de distracción con Irán (impulsada por el lobby israelà y donantes neoconservadores) y la apuesta por contener a China mediante el estrangulamiento de su energÃa desde el Golfo. El Sur Global observa y acelera su no alineamiento.
La civilización exhausta muestra declive de confianza institucional, muertes por desesperación y nostalgia como mecanismo de evitación. Pero la época Antonina demuestra que la renovación es posible. El libro propone seis pilares para que las democracias sobrevivan: reconstrucción multilateral, protección legal de prensa y tribunales, diversificación económica, autonomÃa de defensa europea, alfabetización cÃvica y descentralización.
El próximo Nerón podrÃa ser más competente, ideológico y nativo digital, gobernando con IA. La imagen final es el violÃn (la actuación) o la manguera (la saturación informativa). La pregunta no es si el fuego llegará, sino si la audiencia seguirá aplaudiendo o empezará a apagarlo.
